The Arab Spring uprisings sparked a wave of hope for democracy, freedom, and social justice \u2013 and among the key demands was the advancement of women’s rights.<\/p>\n<h2>Women’s Participation in Politics<\/h2>\n<p>In Tunisia, one of the most notable achievements has been the implementation of a quota system to ensure increased female representation in politics. This has resulted in a parliament with a higher proportion of female representatives than any other Arab country. The Arab Spring uprisings sparked a wave of hope for democracy, freedom, and social justice \u2013 and among the key demands was the advancement of women’s rights.<\/p>\n<h2>Women’s Participation in Politics<\/h2>\n<p>In Tunisia, one of the most notable achievements has been the implementation of a quota system to ensure increased female representation in politics. This has resulted in a parliament with a higher proportion of female representatives than any other Arab country. For instance, the 2014 elections saw women occupy 31% of parliamentary seats \u2013 a remarkable feat considering the region’s patriarchal norms.<\/p>\n<p>However, progress has been slower in other countries. In Tunisia, for example, the number of women in the workforce has increased significantly since the Arab Spring. The Arab Spring may have come and gone, but our commitment to building a better world should not.
